Sandra Iroakazi, Ph.D.

Dr. Sandra Iroakazi is a Professor of Digital Health and Information & Communications Technology at Algonquin College, Ottawa, Canada.  Her career cuts across the health, technology, education, and business sectors, and consequently she has held several senior level positions in both public and private sectors across three continents. She has worked at the Information and Communications Technology Council of Canada, where she was team lead for Canada-wide projects in eHealth and Digital Media, both of which programs were set to define eHealth and digital media occupations and competencies (skills, knowledge, abilities and attitudes) required for professionals in those industries to do their jobs effectively.

Her work in the healthcare sector focuses on trans-disciplinary teams transitioning from manual to technology driven healthcare systems, as well as supporting clinics and physicians in the evaluation, adoption, operation and sustenance of new healthcare technologies and data management. 

Dr. Iroakazi is Founder and President of the Council of Entrepreneurs for Africa (COEFA Canada), based in Ottawa, Canada, an international not-for-profit organization of highly skilled Professionals and corporate entities with the mandate to facilitate development and transformation through science, technology, innovation, symbiotic collaborations and partnerships across different world regions. She is very passionate about enabling young professionals and women entrepreneurs reach higher potentials and creating innovative pathways to help them add value to their local environments and become globally competitive.


Dr. Iroakazi is a recipient of the prestigious Excellence Award for Significant Contribution to Africa’s Development from The Hague, Netherlands.  She sits on the Boards of various profit and not-for-profit organizations. She exudes a strong passion for strategic leadership, science, technology and innovation, and how to apply them as change drivers in different sectors of the economy. She enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures.


Dr. Sandra Iroakazi holds a Bachelor of Electrical /Electronic Engineering degree (honors) and Masters Degree in Computer Science from Uppsala University, Sweden, a second Masters Degree in Computer Engineering (Real Time Systems) and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands. She has published and presented several scientific papers in international peer-reviewed conferences. Dr. Iroakazi is married with children.
